Things at Flow had come a long way since their CEO drew the first Flow logo with a sharpie in 2007. These days, Flow does brisk trade as a digital agency primarily serving Beijing-based government organizations and SMEs, topping the Google search results for “web design china”. I took over Flow’s re-branding process, leading their design team in the creation of a completely new VI, logo, site and collateral set.

The site design we settled on was responsive (natch) with a sassy mouth.

Particularly interesting, I found, was the necessity of a 2/3 English to 1/3 Chinese approach to the company’s VI, a proportional match for Flow’s mostly English, partially Chinese-speaking clientele. Working from two directions, we identified branding concepts that translated well across the language barrier, maintaining a unified identity.
